Hi Everybody!

I’m posting a shorter blog than usual just to keep you all in the know about a few upcoming events in the Charlottesville area that we are proud to be involved with. One of our fundamental values at Children’s Dentistry of Charlottesville is to be involved in the community in a meaningful way that makes a difference in people’s day-to-day lives.

As a dental practice, we always try to do what’s right for our patients, but we also feel that we have a responsibility to give back and get involved in our community. We believe that it’s a privilege to provide dental services to our community.

So we will always try to do good for our friends and neighbors. We exist for a higher purpose beyond just doing dentistry.

Our Community Partners

We’ve partnered with several non-profit organizations that we believe are doing a lot of good in Charlottesville and the surrounding community. We also share a lot of clients/patients with these groups!

Today, I wanted to drop a blog post to let you know about the great events they’re putting on. These are events that we sponsor because we believe in what they do for our community.

Let me tell you a little about these awesome organizations and the upcoming events that we will be hanging out at.

Virginia Institute of Autism

One of the organizations is the Virginia Institute of Autism (VIA). VIA is a really great resource center for people and families affected by Autism. They have a school for people that have been diagnosed with Autism that provides educational services for people aged 2-22 years old. VIA also has behavioral outpatient services that help to provide and teach communication skills, social skills, adaptive life skills and more.

We have a lot of patients that have Special Needs, including patients that are on the Autism Spectrum. There’s a natural overlap between the patients that we serve and the clients that VIA serves.

We love what they do and hear great feedback from our patients who are involved with them.

Child’s Health Improvement Program (CHiP).

The other organization that I’d like to talk about is Jefferson Area CHiP – the Child’s Health Improvement Program. They work with families that are eligible for Medicaid or who are unable to obtain private insurance. They also work with families that have young children to help coordinate health services and appointments. ChiP is also actively involved supporting families that are non-English speaking or that are a part of the local refugee communities.

The Events

See You At The Finish Line!

VIA hosts an annual 5k race that serves as a fundraiser for their organization. This is our third year as a sponsor of the event.

The last two years we’ve fielded 10-20 participants to run and walk in support of our patients who are affected by Autism. This year we plan to show the same support again. The race is on April 22. There is a kids’ race at 7:30 a.m. and the main race at 8 a.m. The starting line is at the Charlottesville High School.

Jefferson area CHiP hosts an awesome Human Foosball Tournament fundraiser. Watch the embedded video of last year’s event above! This is our first year putting together a team to participate in the Human Foosball Tourney, but we are super excited about it! The event is on April 23 at the Charlottesville IX Art Park starting at 1 p.m.

The Low-Down Skinny

Just so that everyone knows, this post isn’t a humble brag. These organizations are the ones that are out there, bringing it day-in-and-day-out, making Charlottesville and Central Virginia a better place. We’re honored to be a small part of their events and help support what they do, and we’re stoked to help them make our community just a little bit better too.

We wanted to keep you all in the know about what’s going on in the nearby future. Come out and join us in supporting these awesome organizations and what they do for our communities. We really hope to see you there.

Come say “Hi!” We’ll be watching for you.
