Winter is coming. Here’s how to find out if Children’s Dentistry of Charlottesville is operational when snow hits.

We’re midway through January 2019 and already the Central Virginia area has been hit with 3(!) snow storms. The snow Charlottesville received in December is the most I can remember prior to Christmas in my 8 years living here. While the snow is beautiful, and we enjoy playing in it just as much as you do, it can certainly cause some major disruptions to our daily routines.

Since we’ve got 2 or 3 more months of wintry weather ahead of us, I thought it might be a good idea to let you know how to find out if we are open when winter weather does strike.

How to find out how weather affects our hours

We’re Social

Our primary method for communicating with the outside world is through Facebook.

From time to time, winter drops enough snow that travel is disrupted for those of us who don’t have 4-wheel drive. If it looks like snow or ice pose a significant threat to safe travel for most of our staff or patients we’ll close the office.

We tend to follow Charlottesville city schools when storms first strike, but we usually resume work faster than the schools get back to their normal schedule. Check our Facebook Page for any updates about closings or delayed openings. We’re good about posting at least an hour or two before our regularly scheduled opening time.

We kick it old school, too

If you don’t have Facebook, no problem! We’ll also adjust our phone’s voicemail to let you know that we’re closed. Not sure if we’re open? Call us at 434-817-1817. It’ll let you know what’s up.

For scheduled patients – If you had an appointment but we are closed due to inclement weather, don’t sweat it. Get outside and make some snow angels, or stay in with a warm cup of hot cocoa. We’ll call you to reschedule your appointment and make every effort to get you back in as soon as we possibly can.

Lastly, there’s no penalty or problem if we’re open but you experienced inclement weather that you felt prevented safe travel. We just kindly ask that you call us to let us know that you won’t be able to make your scheduled appointment. We’ll happily reappoint you right away.

If you still need to schedule an appointment for your child, now’s a great time. Give us a call at (434) 817-1817 or contact us online to schedule today.

Happy winter everybody!
